The art of making
Youth with a lot to say
A white wine born of the ability to understand nature and convey its many nuances to the palate.
The sandy-loam soils at the bottom of the hillsides have been chosen to create El Zarzal.
La Revelía represents the maximum expression of the Godello varietal character. From steep slopes.
Wine and art go hand in hand. To create both, you need to be inspired and feel passionate about what you do. A wine is a blank canvas. Sometimes, brush strokes of colour will come to mind; at other times, the colours will turn dark, and you’ll have to mix them to make everything flow correctly. What happens when you take two steps back and contemplate the piece as a whole? You realise that it is no longer just a painting, but part of your soul.
You have to have a strong personality to be able to start from scratch, know where you come from, our land, care for it, understand it, give the best of ourselves and give it affection, shape and colour. That is all. Our dream began when we discovered the magic of El Bierzo, its people and the personality of the Godello grape. At Bodegas Emilio Moro we love to draw what we dream, to remind ourselves of what the great Picasso once said: inspiration exists, but it needs to catch you working. We don’t make wine. We create wine.
Over 100 years
The story of Bodegas Emilio Moro goes back three generations. A lifetime of learning the trade, knowing the land and caring for the vines.
Grandfather Emilio Moro started working with vines as a youngster and instilled in his son, also called Emilio, all his love for wine. Now it is his children, the third generation, who continue the family business, respecting the three main pillars which have guided this family from the beginning. Tradition, Innovation and Social Responsibility, united by the passion felt at every step.
Dream of the vines
and bring them to life
We touch down in El Bierzo in 2017, but our love for white wine emerged a long time earlier, in 2013, when the Godello variety seduced us completely. This love at first sight brought us onto the paths we now tread and has lead us to plant now more than 60 hectares of vineyards of this variety to give shape to the new project. Bodegas Emilio Moro in El Bierzo.
Only El Bierzo has been able to make us leave the Ribera del Duero to discover the enormous potential of the Godello variety planted in this very special microclimate. A gift to the senses that is bringing us growth in the region and letting us achieve those wines with soul which we always dream about and which we are able to bring to life.
An exciting adventure
A white variety of excellent quality and with a complex aromatic profile that inspired us as soon as we tasted it. This variety led the way in the creation of white wines with the character fitting of a family such as our own.
A grape adapted to the land and slopes of El Bierzo, with clear balance of acidity and tenderness. Why not choose to plant it in the place it deserves? It is capable of creating, on its own, unique, irresistible wines that fill us with emotions.
Our white wines are born of the ability to understand nature and convey its many nuances to the palate.
They are a way of saying loud and clear that El Bierzo has a lot to tell us, and the best way to hear it is through a glass of wine.
Art as wine
Wine is all about creativity, courage and art
Its magic resides at that perfect point between character and rebelliousness. For us, El Bierzo and the Godello variety are that passion to innovate, to differentiate ourselves, to see the world from another perspective.
And our wines are the best reflection of that sentiment. How could we not dress up for the occasion? We present a new image created by the painter Domingo Zapata, with an avant-garde, daring and colourist look which speaks of a traditional trade which knows how to reinvent itself, develop over the years, and which can paint on an empty canvas and bring out the deepest emotions.
