Production and quality.
The weather of 2020 was marked by a slight increase in the average temperature which, together with the plentiful rainfall in spring, resulted in excellent plant growth. The rains during the harvest period did not affect the quality of the grapes used to produce wines of high quality, aromatic expression and intensity.
Maximum emphasis on terroir.
One of Bodegas Emilio Moro’s top of the range wines and with a great recognition all over the world. Made with grapes from the famous Pago de Valderramiro, planted in gobelet and with a clay soil that provides character and structure, it is one of the wines in which the ‘terroir’ of the Ribera del Duero is most present. The character of the Tempranillo grape variety of this estate blends perfectly with American oak barrels during malolactic fermentation and with French oak barrels during ageing.
The tradition of three generations.
Very deep garnet, expressive and ripe on the nose, with an outstanding intensity showing great quality fruity notes, black fruits with a liqueur profile. Remarkable development in the glass, without loss of fruity intensity. It expresses resinous and lactic tertiary notes of great complexity, making for an aromatic expressiveness with and excellent balance between creamy and fine. The palate leaves an excellent aftertaste: it is intense but round, ripe and well balanced.
This wine is named after the Pago de Valderramiro, a plot of vineyards planted in 1924. The sense and objective of making this wine is to give maximum prominence to the ‘terroir’ and to maintain the highest quality based on the tradition of three generations.
The Emilio Moro labels stand out for their image of a medallion that tells the story of the family from its beginnings. On Malleolus de Valderramiro we see a photo of Emilio Moro during dry pruning (1996).
