Emilio Moro is our alma mater. It was the first wine of Bodegas Emilio Moro. It was launched in 1989, the year of the winery’s first vintage under the Ribera del Duero D.O., and from the very first moment it has been the representative of our terroir.
Today it is a clear example of the passion of four generations of a family dedicated to the cultivation of vineyards and the production of Ribera del Duero wines with soul.
Emilio Moro comes from soils typical of the intermediate altitude areas (what we call terraces) that form the transition between the Duero valley and the páramo. They are medium-textured soils, generally loamy-clayey, with medium fertility and an excellent capacity for vine-growing.
Emilio Moro comes from mid-aged vines.
Emilio Moro is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and then aged in French and American oak barrels for as long as the wine needs.
During the winemaking process, following the X philosophy in the selection of grapes, where we seek variability by working with different soils, different orientations, different altitudes, etc., we continue with this variability in the winery by combining the use of French and American oak, modulating the percentage between the two depending on the climatology of the vineyard, where the know-how of the Moro family can be seen.
Intense garnet in colour. A complex and expressive nose; the personality of the 2021 vintage translates into an interesting balance between the fresh notes of red fruit that are typical of the variety with riper hints of black fruits, coffee, and spices like vanilla and clove. Well-balanced in the mouth, with a medium structure and sweet tannins. Easy in the mouth, but with personality and a long, persistent and very pleasant finish.

The winter of 2023 saw generous rains, adding to the soil’s water reserves, but the cycle started without the typical spring rains and lasted until June. Temperatures were higher than expected and resulted in full ripening of the fruit. Just before the harvest there were generous storms that modulated the cycle and balanced the concentration.
