Bodegas Emilio Moro and Viva Suecia join forces to fuse wine and music and bring culture closer to winery lovers and Viva Suecia fans.

The Murcian band Viva Suecia visited the winery while their tour was taking them to the Conexión Valladolid Festival.

They say that life without music is no life at all. Music has always been part of our history, of our culture. It has the power to change our mood, to stand by us when it’s not our day, to fill empty spaces, to transport us through our memories and, above all, to make us feel, to move us.

And Bodegas Emilio Moro, a family winery with more than 100 years of history, has joined forces with the indie rock and pop group Viva Suecia, in a collaboration in which music and wine are the perfect partners to unleash those emotions and to meet one of the winery’s challenges, to support culture.

Bodegas Emilio Moro and Viva Suecia join forces to merge wine and music and bring the quality and tradition of the winery to the fans of Viva Suecia and make it clear that culture is part of our DNA. This union is born out of passion, love for music and the need to find those stimuli that lead us to feel, to be moved.

With this collaboration, Bodegas Emilio Moro seeks to expand its presence in the music territory, reaching out to Viva Suecia fans and creating a deeper connection with these consumers. ‘We are excited to be working with Viva Suecia. Their music and our passion for wine complement each other perfectly, allowing us to reach a new and diverse audience,’ said Javier Moro, president of Bodegas Emilio Moro.

Viva Suecia, who were able to visit the winery while their tour took them to Valladolid to take part in the Conexión Valladolid Festival, also expressed their enthusiasm for this alliance: ‘For us, music and wine are art forms that bring people together and create unforgettable memories. We love to end our concerts toasting with a bottle of wine, and now, to do it with a bottle of Emilio Moro makes that moment even more special’.

Wine and music lovers will be able to enjoy this union and discover that, in the search for sensations, Bodegas Emilio Moro and Viva Suecia are the perfect partners because, if there is one thing that both the Moro family and the members of Viva Suecia -Rafa, Jess, Alberto and Fernando- know about, it is emotions.

Culture is the soul of our society

This collaboration is not the only one with which Bodegas Emilio Moro is involved in the world of culture, an area that it has been supporting for some time as one of the pillars of the company. This year, for the second time, they sponsored the Culture Forum, which featured the actor, comedian and cartoonist Joaquín Reyes. An event that has become an essential meeting point in the region to bring together personalities from all over the world to share ideas, reflect and offer very interesting talks.

They were also present as sponsors at CerARTmic Madrid, the first contemporary art and ceramics fair in Spain with the aim of developing, sustaining and expanding the practice of ceramics. And as a prelude to the collaboration with Viva Suecia, Bodegas Emilio Moro has been part of the Wine Conexión Valladolid, an initiative of the Diputación de Valladolid, thanks to which the vineyards of the winery became a unique stage where Marilia, ex-member of Ella Baila Sola, offered a unique evening.

‘Culture is the soul of our society’, says the fourth generation member and Marketing Director of Bodegas Emilio Moro, Héctor Medina Moro, who is clear that the winery, recognised all over the world, has the power and responsibility to support art, music and cinema because culture is what motivates them. ‘We firmly believe in the power of culture’, with four generations of the family dedicated body and soul to winemaking, they state emphatically that without culture they could not have got where they are. ‘Culture inspires us to create wines that tell stories and bring people together,’ he says, helping them to demystify the false belief that “to enjoy wine, you have to be an expert”.

La Revelía 2021, El Zarzal 2022 and Polvorete 2023 are the perfect companions to toast those friendships, those adventures and those memories that take us back to the place where we’re happy.

Summer and memories. These two words are so intimately related that when you use them in the same sentence, you unwittingly reveal the secret of true happiness. Remembering summers of ice-creams in the square, of the most intense friendships, being the hero of the best adventures and even living that first love, makes returning to the place that once made us happy a vital pleasure.

Bodegas Emilio Moro, a 100-year-old family winery that aims to be a meeting point to bring people joy, wants to accompany you on this journey to toast those friendships, those adventures and those memories that you’ll never forget.

Enjoy the summer with Bodegas Emilio Moro

“Every summer of my childhood I counted the days to pack my bags and go to Pesquera with all my family and friends”. Héctor Moro, marketing director and member of the fourth generation of Bodegas Emilio Moro, takes us back to the summers of his childhood, acknowledging that, on holidays, there was no lack of smiles or the excitement of reunions, the desire to make plans and the nights under the stars in the surrounding vineyards. “But, to this day, the feeling is the same. When we always want to return to the same place, it is because something important inside us is awakened by being there, and that, without a doubt, gets us hooked”.

To enjoy all those plans that make summer one of the most special seasons of the year, Bodegas Emilio Moro presents its three Godellos made in DO Bierzo as the best companions to live this time of the year to the fullest.

Polvorete 2023, the most youthful Godello of Bodegas Emilio Moro. A fun and rebellious white perfect for enjoying a summer dinner with friends. Fresh, easy to drink, yet full of nuances. It radiates joy and can accompany any meeting, demonstrating that, despite being the youngest, the land of El Bierzo has a lot to offer. Suggested accompaniment: rice salad, ceviche and tuna tartar.

El Zarzal 2022, bright, expressive and balanced. The perfect wine to seduce the most demanding palates. Honouring its variety, it respects the identity of the Godello grape without renouncing freshness. Suggested accompaniment: scorpion fish pie and rice with rabbit and mushrooms.

La Revelía 2021 is sophistication, it’s structure, it’s complexity. This is Bodegas Emilio Moro’s most special Godello, characterised by a unique personality, being the maximum expression of the Godello varietal character. Subtle, suggestive and complex, with ageing over lees in barrels that give it body and richness. This is a wine that, while presiding over a table, becomes the highlight of any conversation, thanks to its nuanced bouquet of ripe stone fruit and dried flowers. Suggested accompaniment: prawn carpaccio with soya and duck breast with mojo and apple parmentier.

Summer in the village, life at its best

Bodegas Emilio Moro is located in the heart of the Ribera de Duero, in a prime area of the ‘Golden Mile’, in Ponferrada, a hidden paradise full of charm, breathtaking landscapes and exquisite cuisine.

It is the family of Bodegas Emilio Moro themselves who tell us how fortunate they feel to have the opportunity to always return to the place where they feel really happy, in their case, their village, their home. This is what they wanted to reflect in the video where they present their three Godellos as an essential part of the summer.

While uncorking a bottle of Polvorete 2023, Patricia Sánchez Moro, general manager and member of the fourth generation of Bodegas Emilio Moro, together with Héctor Moro, tells us that they are very happy to be able to come back every summer. “It’s clear that if you don’t have it, you don’t miss it, but life in our villages is very full.” Thinking back and ‘’drawing on‘’ their most special memories, Patricia and Héctor highlight what they like most about spending their holidays in their homeland, ‘’the first thing that comes to mind: spending time with family and friends‘’. Both admit that the tranquillity they enjoy these days is a privilege, and although they both love to drive, walking everywhere without having to look for a parking space seems to them a real blessing. “That the biggest traffic jam we encounter is the queue to order a wine in one of those afternoon aperitifs that stretch on until siesta time is priceless”. They both laughingly admit that when they return, they are no longer Héctor and Patricia, but the grandchildren of La Feli and Emilio, ‘something we are very used to and which we welcome with great affection’, and they add that, ‘the funniest part is the reunion with our childhood friends, with whom we trade those poolside afternoons for afternoons on the terraces or barbecues at sunset’. They haven’t forgotten how nice it is to go out in a jumper, whether for a stroll through the vineyards, an ice cream in the square or just a chat on the front step of the house.

“It’s important to us that the people who know us and visit us feel that they are part of our home, and so this summer we want to be part of those special memories that we, fortunately, can relive summer after summer.”. With these words, Patricia Sánchez Moro invites us to live this summer with intensity, hoping that the three Godellos produced in the DO Bierzo will be part of our summers forever.

Elalba, the first rosé from Bodegas Emilio Moro, represents a lifestyle where fads have no place, but quality and style do.

Elegance, sophistication, success and passion. These are the values that represent the exclusive collaboration between Bodegas Emilio Moro and Philippa 1970.

Bodegas Emilio Moro is located in the heart of the Ribera de Duero, in the prime area of the ‘Golden Mile’. A family winery with more than 100 years of history that, with passion and dedication to the world of wine, seeks to fulfil the maxim that, vintage after vintage, guides them: to be a meeting point in which to inspire people through its essence.

In this essence we find its connection to the land and the experience of four generations who, based on the continuous pursuit of excellence and innovation, have managed to obtain the best expression of its terroir in each of its wines. As a result of this continuous evolution, Emilio Moro’s Elalba was born, the first rosé of the family winery which, once again this year, returns to present its new vintage: Emilio Moro’s Elalba 2023.

Emilio Moro’s Elalba, a lifestyle that brings us joy.

Emilio Moro’s Elalba was born with the aim of bringing joy to people. “At Bodegas Emilio Moro we believe in the importance of appreciating the gifts that life offers us in a slow and conscious way”, explains Patricia Sánchez Moro, general manager and member of the fourth generation of the family winery. Héctor Medina Moro, marketing director of the winery, added ‘for us, Elalba is more than a wine. It’s the perfect companion for those who see life as an exquisite experience where fads have no place, but quality and style do.”

Bodegas Emilio Moro has therefore joined forces with Spanish fashion brand Philippa 1970 to offer a unique experience based on the values that both brands share – elegance, sophistication, success and passion – through an exclusive collaboration in which the new vintage of Emilio Moro’s Elalba, with a run of only 5,000 bottles, will be accompanied by two accessories that will further enhance this summer’s most awaited encounters: an ice bucket and an anti-drip bottle holder. The design, inspired by the glamour and free spirit of the 1970s, adds a touch of fantasy and exoticism to this unique collaboration, of which only 300 units of each will be available.

An event to inspire and surprise

Bodegas Emilio Moro presented Elalba by Emilio Moro 2023 and the exclusive collaboration with Philippa 1970 at an event held at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz Hotel. The attendees, including Sassa de Osma, Lulú Figueroa, Belén Junco and Marta Hazas, enjoyed a very special meeting in which they enjoyed a lunch paired with three of the winery’s most representative wines: El Zarzal, Elalba de Emilio Moro and the alma mater of the winery, Emilio Moro. Friends of both brands such as Ines Ybarra, Marina Rivas and Cari Lapique, among others, didn’t want to miss it either.

Emilio Moro’s Elalba symbolises the aspirational values of an entire generation.

Emilio Moro’s Elalba is the result of an elegant coupage of Tempranillo and Albillo Mayor varieties. This wine stands out for its freshness and subtlety, but also for its complexity and elegance, achieved thanks to its careful production and its ageing in French oak barrels. With a very pale salmon pink colour and aromas that combine red fruits such as strawberry and cherry with floral and mineral notes, Elalba offers a unique and sophisticated sensory experience.

Álvaro Maestro, technical director of the winery, points out that the rains during the winter dormant months, the good growth during the spring and the absence of weather shocks during the rest of the year helped to keep the vineyards in good condition. Although, as we have been observing in recent years, the increase in temperatures causes the fruit to ripen completely, ‘on this occasion, just before harvesting, there were generous storms that helped to modulate the cycle by balancing the concentration’.

In addition, the 2023 vintage comes with very good news for the winery as it has been recognised as the Best Aged Rosé Wine of Ribera del Duero at the prestigious Envero 2024 Awards, which this year celebrated its 25th edition.

This award is determined in a blind tasting in which more than a thousand people from all over Spain participate. Among the finalists in each category, a panel of experts with the participation of personalities from the world of wine such as Almudena Alberca, Master of Wine, decided the winners.

The perfect pairing for Emilio Moro’s Elalba

Emilio Moro’s Elalba is a very complete wine with an interesting culinary potential. The ideal rosé to enjoy with fish, white meats as well as to harmonise a meal with pasta and rice dishes, always served at a temperature of between 8º and 11º.

Suggested accompaniments: apple and lime salad with lobster, ceviche, sea bass en papillote, soft tuna pâté.

Eight years after their first experiences with wines from El Bierzo, Bodegas Emilio Moro opens the doors of their home in El Bierzo where they make their three Godellos.

With more than 60 hectares of vineyards, Bodegas Emilio Moro believes in quality and the origin of the terroir.

Marco Antonio Morala López, Mayor of Ponferrada, highlighted the value of El Bierzo as one of the most important wine-growing areas in Spain.

Bodegas Emilio Moro, a family winery with more than 100 years of history, celebrated its arrival in the region of El Bierzo with an emotional inauguration event that brought together distinguished guests, friends of the winery. The celebration, which took place last Thursday, 23 May, was the result of years of tireless dedication that, thanks to the passion that the Bodegas Emilio Moro family feels for wine, they continue to maintain and cultivate with a single objective: to fulfil Emilio Moro’s dream; to share his legacy with the world.

“For Bodegas Emilio Moro, the El Bierzo project is a dream come true”. With these words Javier Moro, president of Bodegas Emilio Moro and member of the third generation of the family, welcomed the guests. These words define the meaning of their commitment to El Bierzo, which began with the desire to make white wines, ‘which led us to discover and learn more about the Godello variety, which undoubtedly made us all fall in love with it’.

A celebration surrounded by family and friends

For Bodegas Emilio Moro, the most important thing is to be able to celebrate surrounded by family and friends, and this was the case on this occasion. The family and the winery team were accompanied by more than 120 guests, including Marco Antonio Morala López, mayor of Ponferrada, who highlighted the work of the winery in this designation of origin, which undoubtedly ‘helps to promote El Bierzo as one of the most important wine-growing areas in Spain’. The event was attended by Gerardo Álvarez Courel, President of the Diputación de León and Eduardo Diego Pinedo, Territorial Delegate of the Junta de Castilla y León in León.

The main national, regional and wine media, as well as the distribution team, also enjoyed the evening. The journalist Javier Pérez Andrés, with a notable career in the media, accompanied the Moro family. “In their challenge to continue the dream that Emilio Moro once started, this family has decided to step out of their comfort zone and explore new territories. Today we are here, in El Bierzo, and Bodegas Emilio Moro has arrived to celebrate great successes.” So began the presentation of the event that took place in the new facilities of the winery and in which the undisputed star of the night was the Godello grape. A variety that faithfully reflects the unique character of the El Bierzo terroir, the freshness and the unmistakable flavour that distinguish these wines. It was Patricia Sánchez Moro, general manager of the family winery, who highlighted all the virtues of the Godello grape, being for the family ‘a very special variety that made us understand that, if we made white wines, it had to be with Godello. And that’s what we have done.’

During the inauguration, guests were able to explore the facilities of the new winery, while they got to know and share Polvorete, El Zarzal and La Revelía. The three Godellos that Bodegas Emilio Moro produces in its new winery, through a tasting led by its technical director, Álvaro Maestro. The wines were paired with the cuisine of the El Bierzo region by Miguel Martínez with his restaurant La Tronera, located in Villadepalos, which currently holds a Sol Repsol.

The project of Bodegas Emilio Moro in the Bierzo D.O.

“Wine is an art that, if you know how to listen to it, speaks to us, tells us when it needs to be racked, when it needs to rest. It’s like a living being that needs to be understood, cared for and pampered”. With these words, Emilio Moro tried to instil in his children and grandchildren that, in order to fall in love with a wine, you first have to listen to it and a good example of this is the celebration of his project in El Bierzo. An important event, not only for them, but also for the national wine sector. A commitment to quality, tradition and fine craftsmanship. In this way, Bodegas Emilio Moro reaffirms its ongoing commitment to quality and innovation.

The new facilities of Bodegas Emilio Moro complete the investment in the purchase and production of plots of land totalling more than 60 hectares, which makes it responsible for a positive change in the environment through a contribution to employment, economic development and the restoration of the natural and scenic landscape, promoting El Bierzo as one of the leading areas for the production of white wines of the Godello grape variety.

The winery is divided into a grape receiving area, the winemaking room with stainless steel tanks and the barrel and foudre room, as well as a large area for offices and for receiving visitors and holding tastings.
